Summer Intern – Assistant Project Engineer

Position Summary
Provide a project portfolio overview for the capital projects (approximately $25M NZD) completed by Methanex NZ. Produce a Cost Estimate Database and assist with the documenting the estimating process. Potentially use PowerBI as the tool to complete this. This will allow the tracking of estimates to actual.
Look at opportunities to leverage the work done on costs to apply to project schedule performance.
Position Responsibilities
- Interview current project professionals in Methanex and understand their needs.
- Benchmark with other national organisations
- Use Data Engineering / Analysis techniques to provide a dashboard that takes this data and converts it into information that can be used to track and improve the project process, initially around cost with the option to leverage into schedule.
Position Qualifications
- Completed 2nd or 3rd year of Engineering degree
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work with others
- Results driven and goal orientated
- Well organised
- Communicates well within own group and other departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Particular attention to detail
- Problem solving
- Ability to utilise initiative and seek more information when required
- Detail orientated
- Self motivated
- NZ Drivers Licence and access to a vehicle as there is no public transport available to work site
