Maintenance Manager

Position Summary

Manages the Methanex Geismar maintenance and reliability process to support safe and environmentally compliant production with continuous improvement in plant reliability and maintenance costs.

Position Responsibilities

• Leads maintenance resources to achieve plant reliability in a safe and cost-competitive manner.
• Ensures department implementation and compliance with all Methanex policies and procedures.
• Identifies and executes continuous improvement opportunities to reduce maintenance costs and improve plant reliability.
• Manages the Maintenance Department costs within the approved budget.
• Ensures all Maintenance staff are adequately trained and competent to meet or exceed Methanex standards.
• Ensures that all maintenance work is competently planned, scheduled, and executed.
• Competently manages emergency equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and financial impact.
• Ensures that effective inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair methods are established and executed.
• Coordinates and supports the Turnaround Manager in turnaround planning and execution efforts.
• Develops and maintains annual department budget and 5-year asset reliability plan.
• Develops, tracks, and reports key performance indicators (KPI’s).
• Supports and contributes to the mission, vision, and core principles of Methanex Leadership.
• Conducts personal and company affairs in an ethical, professional, and trustworthy manner.
• Ensures that the performance management system is competently and fairly applied to all department members.
• Leads a performance culture via continuous performance feedback, employee training and development, and succession and retention planning.
• Integral member of Geismar Site Management Team.
• Actively participates on the Site Management Team supporting all initiatives and policies established by SMT.
• Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.
• Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
• Leads by example the Responsible Care® ethic in personal and professional daily life.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA, PSM, Responsible Care®, and ISO requirements.
• Ensures that all safety and reliability incidents at the Geismar facility are investigated and addressed to prevent or minimize any harm to employees, the community, or plant equipment.
• Participates on the Global Maintenance Management Team to ensure best practices are shared and implemented.
• Provides input into the Capital Planning process from a maintenance and reliability perspective.
• Works collaboratively with the Operations and Technical Departments to continuously improve plant reliability within the targeted maintenance budget.

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Engineering preferred, OR equivalent related experience/combined education.
• Minimum 10 years experience in a plant operating environment.
• 5+ years management experience in the manufacturing industry, preferred.
• Demonstrated Leadership skills.
• Strong communication and employee motivation abilities.
• Planning, organization, and time management skills.
• Technical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effectiveness in high stress situations.
• Competence in all common computer applications.
