John FlorenPresident and Chief Executive Officer
As Methanex's President and Chief Executive Officer, John Floren has been with Methanex since 2000 and brings more than 30 years of diverse international management experience in the chemicals industry. Before assuming his current role as President and CEO, Mr. Floren held a variety of positions with Methanex, including Senior Vice-President, Global Marketing and Logistics. Mr. Floren currently serves as a Director on the Boards of PALS Adult Services Society and West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Advisory Council.
Mr. Floren earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Manitoba in 1987. He also attended Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development in 1998 as well as the International Executive Program at INSEAD in 2002. In 2012, he completed the Directors Education Program at the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Brad BoydSenior Vice President, Corporate Resources
Senior Vice President, Corporate Resources, Brad Boyd is responsible for the Human Resources, Information Technology, Global Communication and Legal functions as well as executive oversight of Methanex’s Egypt operations. Mr. Boyd joined the Company in 1996 and has held several roles in finance, with our Egypt operation and most recently as Vice President, Human Resources. Mr. Boyd has a CPA, CA from the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia and a ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Ian CameronSenior Vice President, Finance and CFO
Ian Cameron is focused on developing and implementing strategies that support the Company's business and strategic goals. His responsibilities include corporate finance, investor relations, treasury, tax, financial reporting and risk management, as well as executive oversight of our operations in Trinidad.
Mr. Cameron has been with the company for over 25 years and is a member of the Professional Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and is a graduate of the Harvard Advanced Management Program.
Kevin HendersonSenior Vice President, Manufacturing
As Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, Kevin Henderson is responsible for Methanex’s Chile operations, as well as enhancing reliability, asset utilization and Responsible Care® across our manufacturing operations globally. Mr. Henderson’s more than 40 years’ experience in the methanol industry includes manufacturing, operational management and leadership, and project leadership. Mr. Henderson also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC).
Vanessa JamesSenior Vice President, Corporate Development and Sustainability
Vanessa James leads Methanex’s Corporate Development and Sustainability functions. In this role, Ms. James oversees Methanex's corporate strategy and the identification, development and execution of future growth opportunities – which includes the company’s Geismar 3 project. Ms. James also leads Methanex’s Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) strategy and focus, which has a strong link to the company’s corporate strategy. In addition to her Corporate Development and Sustainability roles, Ms. James also has executive oversight of our New Zealand operations. Ms. James joined Methanex in 1995 and was Senior Vice President, Global Marketing & Logistics between 2013 to 2021, and has a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) from Waikato University in New Zealand.
Rich SumnerSenior Vice President, Global Marketing & Logistics
Rich Sumner oversees Methanex’s Marketing & Logistics functions, including the jointly owned shipping subsidiary, Waterfront Shipping, as well as Global Market Development. He also has executive oversight for Methanex’s North American manufacturing operations. Mr. Sumner is focused on strategies that enhance Methanex’s global leadership position as the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol.
Mr. Sumner joined Methanex in 2004. After a number of years in senior finance roles, he joined the Marketing & Logistics (M&L) organization to take on responsibility for the company’s Global Supply Chain function before moving to Dallas, Texas to lead our North American M&L business as Vice President, M&L North America. Prior to his current role, Mr. Sumner was Regional President, M&L, Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong. Mr. Sumner has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and CPA, CA from the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.
