Position Summary

Site Safety and Emergency Response Graduate “Responsible Care department” will learn how to act as the Safety champion to other business functions to achieve safe, reliable, and sustainable plant operation. Also, assisting SS and ER activities and will be part of a strong mentoring culture, where each Graduate is assigned a Mentor/ Supervisor for support in the Graduate’s personal and professional development. You will also receive on-the-job training, with opportunities to develop wider technical and project/ assignments delivery skills by working alongside experienced professionals.  

Position Responsibilities

  • Participate in and support the delivery of RC-related training programs in collaboration with the HR Learning & Development team. 
  • Undergo structured learning on core RC elements including site safety, emergency response, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene. 
  • Engage in on-the-job learning through coaching, mentoring, and field experience. 
  • Support the implementation and reinforcement of site safety rules, procedures, and Responsible Care principles among staff and contractors. 
  • Promote safety awareness through active participation in behavioral safety programs (e.g., KMI, Behavior-Based Safety). 
  • Serve as an RC ambassador to encourage safe behaviors, peer interventions, and hazard reporting on site. 
  • Participate in daily field safety observations, walkthroughs, and toolbox talks under guidance. 
  • Support the RC team in the review and preparation of work permits, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) risk assessments. 
  • Observe and contribute to pre-job safety meetings and planning activities to ensure adequate safety controls are in place. 
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of safety data and performance indicators for reporting and continuous improvement. 
  • Contribute to internal audits, site inspections, and gap analysis against local regulations and international standards. 
  • Help track progress and follow-up on corrective actions from audits and safety reviews. 
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis sessions. 
  • Support the development and documentation of learning from incidents and near misses. 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science (Chemistry/ Physics major) or Engineering. 
  • Certification in Health, Safety & Environment is a plus 
  • Graduation year: 2023 or later 
  • Previous work experience in a technical field is not necessary but would be an advantage. 
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills. 
  • Superb time management and professionalism. 
  • A growth mindset and willingness to accept feedback. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Good observation skills and willingness to learn.
