Position Summary
The Senior Reporting Analyst reports to the Manager, Corporate Reporting and is responsible for delivering various reports of financial information to both senior management and to external users (mainly the shareholders). The reports encompass the consolidated worldwide operations of Methanex. Key responsibilities include activities such as analyzing regional and consolidated monthly and quarterly financial results (including forecasts); preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and related disclosures; technical accounting analysis for new standards or changes in the business; and supporting continuous process improvement initiatives to align regional reporting, and system changes. This role will also be looked towards for providing leadership in maintaining corporate reporting procedures and implementing complex accounting requirements.
The expected hiring salary range for this position is CAD $112,000 – $137,000. The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies and will consider internal equity.

| Monthly Reporting (Internal)

- Own the preparation of consolidated financial results and quarterly forecast through the completion of financial statements, sales variance and volume analysis and review of plant costs, etc.
- Own end-to-end analysis of financial and operational data from regional accounting teams; translate complex data into clear concise insights and business narratives for management.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regional finance teams; to proactively identify, assess, and resolve accounting and reporting issues and anticipate impact on consolidated results.
- Critically review, analyze, and report on regional submissions for accuracy, completeness, and alignment to reporting requirements.
- Drive issue resolution by anticipating risks, escalating where appropriate, and ensuring timely closure of reporting matters.

| Quarterly Reporting (External)
|
- Own the preparation of MD&A, financial statements and related disclosures, executive analysis package and press release.
- Research, assess, and document complex accounting issues and own the implementation of appropriate accounting treatment and global processes and procedures (as required).
- Participate in external and internal audit and review process.
- Own consolidation areas such as preparation of Joint Venture and/or non-controlling interests, including preparation and review of support workbook and journal entries.
- Provide technical guidance and assist team members with complex financial accounting aspects and reconciliations.

| Year-end audited financial statements (External), including year-end accounting issues
|
- Own key component of the annual reporting process, including MD&A, consolidated financial statements, note disclosure, and other financial information.
- Support with the preparation or review of continuous disclosure documents such as annual report, Information Circular, AIF.
- Analyze and document year-end accounting issues, with respect to key accounting judgments and estimates, and prepare materials for senior leadership and Audit Committee review.
- Co-ordination and review of audit deliverables.

| Contribute to overall management and administration of Corporate Controllers group
|
- Identify and drive process improvement across reporting cycles, leveraging systems and cross-functional collaboration with the Financial Systems team and Regional Finance teams.
- Maintain and enhance reporting, and system processes and documentation in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the overall management of the Controller’s group, including support of ad hoc analysis and management reporting .

|
- Discussion with regions and other Corporate Finance teams on various business and accounting matters.
- Analysis of new accounting issues arising from the introduction of new accounting and reporting standards or changes in the business.
- Provide accounting guidance to regional offices for significant, unusual, and non-routine transactions. Ensure all transactions are recorded appropriate and consistent with regulatory framework.
- Mentor and support Financial Reporting Analysts by providing training for technical progressions.
- Promote a culture of ownership and accountability, encouraging team members to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Position Qualifications
Education and/or Professional Designation
- University degree in Business and/or Finance (Commerce/Accounting)
- Formal accounting education and CPA designation or equivalent
Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge
- 5+ years of post-designation accounting and industry experience
- Strong financial accounting and reporting knowledge
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
- Exposure to significant consolidations, ideally involving foreign subsidiaries
- Exposure to public company disclosure and reporting, preferably IFRS and US GAAP
