Position Summary

Waterfront Shipping Limited (WFS), a joint venture entity owned by Methanex and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, is a global marine transportation company specializing in the safe, responsible, and reliable transport of bulk chemicals and clean petroleum products to North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America.

We are seeking a Manager, Finance for an 18-month temporary contract. The Manager, Finance is part of the WFS management team and is responsible for leading the effective financial management of WFS including its Singapore-based subsidiary, Waterfront Tanker Services (WTS). This role is pivotal in shaping financial strategy and ensuring the long-term financial health of the entity, and requires close collaboration with other Waterfront departments, Marketing & Logistics, Corporate Finance, IT, and external stakeholders (e.g. JV partners) to drive financial performance and support business growth.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead team of 8 in/direct reports – providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching for performance and development of Finance team
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to shareholders – consolidated financial statements required for multiple entities
  • Ensure annual financial statements, tax, and regulatory filings completed in Singapore and Canada
  • Conduct management reporting for WFS and WTS
  • Manage relationships with joint venture (JV) partners, including obtaining approvals and adherence to the Shareholder Agreement and ensuring budgetary compliance
  • Manage financial relationship with JV partners for owned vessels
  • Coordinate WFS and WTS Boards to ensure legal compliance
  • Manage treasury function – including cash management, dividend policy, internal borrowings structure, and engaging Corporate Treasury for external fundraising – to optimize working capital
  • Provide financial analysis and investment modelling support for business decisions on new vessels, divestments or financings
  • Coordinate budget submissions and review financial analysis to support budget and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with Global Supply Chain and Commercial teams to identify and report on key performance metrics
  • Work with other functional department heads to carry out Waterfront’s business and people strategies
  • Liaise with Singapore government officials to ensure compliance for tax compliance and incentive schemes
  • Ensure effective utilization of IT systems and monitor service levels with external vendors
  • Lead change management initiatives related to systems / technology and Finance business processes
  • Responsible for risk management and mitigation tracking

Position Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree and chartered accountant designation (CPA or equivalent) in good standing
  • 10+ years’ post-designation accounting experience, including some industry experience in global public company with multi-entity structure
  • Proven people leadership experience, directly managing and developing teams
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems and multi-currency environment
  • Strong technical accounting skills with IFRS knowledge and expert ability in Excel to analyze data / reports
  • Excellent organization and planning skills to oversee team in meeting consequential deadlines
  • Strong conceptual skills to analyze situations and problems to find viable, timely solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for strong stakeholder management, partnering with cross-functional leaders, and change management
