Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Global IT Site Operations, Methanex is seeking a strategic and people-focused IT Manager to join our team in Egypt. This hybrid leadership role is split between our Cairo office and Damietta plant, with a strong emphasis on site presence and operational impact. Acting as a bridge between business and IT, the IT Manager will align technology with organizational priorities, managing regional IT services, and leading cross-functional initiatives that power our global petrochemical operations.
Position Responsibilities
- Act as the primary IT liaison for regional stakeholders across manufacturing, corporate functions, and country leadership.
- Drive the identification, delivery, and governance of technology solutions that enable operational excellence.
- Lead IT projects from planning to execution — including vendor negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and change management.
- Drive process improvement through business analysis, standardization, and consolidation.
- Ensure alignment with compliance standards and secure operations across all regional systems.
- Own the IT service delivery strategy, including management of service desks, performance tracking, and incident resolution.
- Lead Egypt IT Team— coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to achieve their potential.
- Contribute to global IT leadership forums and shape enterprise-wide digital strategies.
Position Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- University degree in IT, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications such as PMI, Six Sigma, or TOGAF are considered strong assets.
Experience:
- 10+ years in the IT industry, and 3+ years of people leadership.
- Experience in stakeholder management, business analysis, and solution delivery across highly regulated environments.
- Proven ability to drive complex projects, lead global/multi-functional teams, and manage IT vendors and contracts.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management systems (IBM Maximo) and Industrial Data Historian systems (PI) is an asset.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning and manufacturing/distribution processes within the petrochemicals industry.
Other Requirements:
- Advanced English language skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally approximately 1–2 times annually.
- Presence required at the Damietta site a minimum of 50% of the time.
