Human Resources Intern

Position Summary

As a collaborative member of the Medicine Hat Human Resources team, the HR Intern will work with Human Resources department and employees to deliver human resource services based on established practices, guidelines, standards and policies.

This position is open to students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate Human Resources or Business Administration degree program.

This a temporary opportunity with a duration of four (4) months.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the HR team, including file maintenance, meeting coordination, scheduling, data entry, expense reporting, purchase orders, and travel support.
  • Support HR reporting through the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Assist with document control and records management in accordance with global standards.
  • Maintain and update HR information across multiple platforms, including Intranet, SharePoint, Workday, Maximo, Active Learner, and Controlled Document Registries.

  • Participate as an active member of the local HR team and collaborate with other Methanex sites.
  • Compile and analyze ad hoc survey data as required.
  • Demonstrate Methanex values of integrity, trust, respect, and professionalism.
  • Conduct all work in alignment with Responsible Care® principles and maintain required safety training.

Position Qualifications

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled and have successfully completed their second or third year of studies in an undergraduate Human Resources or Business Administration degree program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4-point scale.
  • General understanding of leading practices in human resources and employment related legislation including Alberta Human Rights, Alberta Employment Standards, Privacy Legislation and benefits programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Experience with reporting, queries and metric development.

  • Strong attention to detail, able to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
