Position Summary
As an Mechanical Engineering Graduate at Methanex Egypt, you will be integrated into the Engineering Department, where you will play a key role in supporting mechanical engineering activities aimed at ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. You will be part of a structured graduate development program, receiving mentorship, hands-on experience, and technical training. You will also collaborate with other departments to develop your professional and project execution capabilities.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide support to the mechanical engineering team by assisting with technical tasks and learning how to address mechanical issues across various business functions.
- Participate in planning and coordinating mechanical engineering tasks to ensure timely, quality deliverables aligned with business priorities.
- Analyze and document mechanical engineering lessons learned, contributing to the department’s continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in reviewing proposed design modifications to ensure they are aligned with plant design philosophy and performance goals.
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and equipment sizing using applicable codes and Methanex Project Standards.
- Support the application of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) tools such as HAZOPs or What-If reviews for proposed mechanical changes.
- Develop detailed mechanical engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and technical assessments.
- Provide field and technical support during the execution phase of engineering projects to ensure proper implementation and adherence to design.
- Participate in reliability investigations and support root cause analysis of mechanical failures or performance issues.
- Assist in evaluating mechanical integrity using real inspection data and operating trends, applying codes and OEM guidelines.
- Work alongside maintenance, inspection, and operations teams to gain practical understanding of system integrity and performance.
- Maintain adherence to Methanex health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and participate actively in risk assessments and safety observations.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Familiarity with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or simulation tools) is a plus.
- Previous relevant experience is a plus.
- Graduation year: 2023 or later
