Position Summary
Methanex Corporation is the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol with revenues of nearly $4 billion and over 1650 employees. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Methanex operates production sites in Canada, Chile, Egypt, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States. International operations are supported by an extensive global supply chain of terminals, storage facilities and the world’s largest dedicated fleet of methanol ocean tankers. Methanex is publicly listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under “MX” and on the NASDAQ under “MEOH.” As part of its strategic growth plan, Methanex recently announced the $2b acquisition of OCI Global International’s methanol business, which will significantly expand its operations in North America.
Methanex is now seeking a new Director, Global Communications to lead the organization’s communications function. Leading a team of 8, the Director is responsible for managing global communications strategy across executive communications, internal communications, and external communications (excluding Investor Relations) that reflects the company’s global scale, strategic priorities, and organizational culture. The Director will lead all aspects of Methanex’s global communications activities through impactful storytelling that connects Methanex’s strategy and leadership priorities with its global workforce and external stakeholders. This is a high-impact role that partners closely with senior executives and business leaders and requires a deep understanding of business strategy in order to be able to develop clear and compelling messages that drive value.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and business-minded communications professional who can operate at a senior leadership level with proven experience in a complex, matrixed environment with a significant focus on internal comms. Industry experience that includes industrial, B2B, publicly traded, and/or working in international markets is preferred as is functional experience that includes operations or other roles outside of communications. Armed with superior interpersonal and influencing skills, the successful candidate will be a strong people leader who brings a global perspective and reflects Methanex’s culture of humility, collaboration, respect and acting with the upmost integrity.

In accordance with BC’s Pay Transparency Act, the expected base salary range for this role is $195,000-245,000 plus bonus and benefits but may vary based on the successful candidate.
