Corporate Accountant (12-month term)

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the full-cycle accounting of the Corporate Office and Finance Companies. This includes preparation of month-end and ad hoc journal entries, monthly reconciliations, month-end reporting and variance analysis. In addition, the position is responsible for the Canadian Entity Statements and assisting with tax schedules (as needed), stock based compensation pay-out entries and reconciliation, quarterly head office and purchased methanol cost allocations, and intercompany transactions, support for audits, and statutory reporting (Statistics Canada).
This is a temporary position for 12-months, with an expected annual hiring salary range of CAD $87,000 to $106,000. The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies and will consider internal equity.
Position Responsibilities

| Timely and accurate reporting of financial results for Corporate Head Office

- Monthly maintenance of account reconciliations and other schedules for month-end entries
- Preparation of recurring and ad hoc month-end entries
- Liaise with payroll to perform payroll account reconciliations
- Run subledger revaluation and translation
- Close subledgers and GL for corporate business units
- Prepare Income Statement (monthly) and Balance Sheet (quarterly) for the corporate business units along with variance analysis
- Prepare monthly income statement and working capital forecast for the Corporate Reporting team
- Preparation of annual entity statements, working paper, and schedules for the Canadian entities
- Other ad hoc analysis as required

| Accounting for intercompany transactions (i.e. G&A, insurance, cost sharing, interest, dividends, misc. fees, etc.) for Methanex Corp and Finance Companies |
- Prepare and review journal entries to record intercompany transactions in Oracle
- Ensure all intercompany transactions are recorded in corresponding business units that Mx Corp oversees
- Ensure all transactions are issued with supporting backup in a timely manner
- Provide correct GL coding for incoming intercompany transactions
- Communicate with internal and regional finance contact to resolve any intercompany transaction issues or variances
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliation of financial statements after gathering information from Barbados and Cayman Management companies on a periodical basis
- Accounting for charges to other regions for stock based compensation (working with HR and Corporate Reporting to understand allocation out of expense, intercompany billing to regions, and reconciliation of SBC GL accounts)
- Assist with preparation of other intercompany schedules, memos, and reports, as needed

| Cost Sharing and support of cost sharing audit

- Consolidate purchase margin program gains and losses and production information from Marketing Regions; and ensuring integrity of the data received
- Support the preparation of the quarterly head office cost allocation
- Communicate requirements to regions and coordinate quarterly issuance of invoices
- Support the cost sharing audit by preparing the annual schedules and coordinating with the region to collect supporting document and information

- Assist the corporate reporting team in preparation of assigned quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements notes and analysis including support working papers

- Work with Oracle Solutions team to find efficiencies and improve reporting processes for corporate accounting
- Become a subject matter expert for GL and intercompany

Position Qualifications
Education and/or Professional Designation
- CPA designation or equivalent
Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge
- 4+ years accounting experience, preferably in a similar capacity with a large organization
- 2+ years with ERP/Integrated accounting systems (Oracle experience is an asset)
- Solid accounting technical and analytical skills
- Excellent computer skills, incl. Excel and Word
- Experience working with multiple currencies
