Summer Intern – Assistant Process Engineer

Position Summary

To assist in opportunities available to improve the plant efficiency monitoring and help with regular engineering activities of the Process Engineering team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Complete final build out of real time calculations in Pi AF environment
  • Improve PiVision pages to incorporate enhancements from other Methanex sites e.g. Geismar
  • Create PiVision dashboard for unit efficiencies
  • Digitise existing pump curves from existing hard copies
  • Checking of on-going line list modifications
  • Progress outstanding Process Safety Flow Schematics (PSFS)

Position Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • Completed 2nd or 3rd year of Chemical and Process Engineering degree
    • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office suite
    • Ability to translate complicated processes to simple tracking display using modern software
    • Experience with process simulation software (preferably HYSYS but Symmetry/Unisim/etc acceptable)
    • Familiarity with Microsoft VBA is beneficial but not essential
    • Ability to work with others
    • Results driven and goal orientated
    • Well organised
    • Communicates well within own group and other departments
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Particular attention to detail
    • Problem solving
    • Ability to utilise initiative and seek more information when required
    • Detail orientated
    • Self motivated
    • Available transport to Methanex site in Motunui required (public transport is not available)
