Methanex Corporation is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst, Corporate Services based in our Vancouver office.

Reporting to the IT Business Relationship Manager, Corporate Services, the Senior Systems Analyst, Corporate Services, partners with stakeholders and vendors to support business objectives, operating model needs, process effectiveness, and high-quality delivery. The role identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity through process improvements and technology solutions.

The Senior Systems Analyst serves as a consultant to stakeholders, IT teams, external service providers and vendors to define and deliver technology solutions that users adopt. Key responsibilities include application support, solution design, relationship management, communications, business process and data analysis, requirements definition, configuration, project coordination, vendor management, documentation, and training.

 

Position Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Human Capital Management (“HCM”) Program Administration

  • Workday Releases:
    • Review and assess key release features; define testing approach; and coordinate issue triage and resolution.
    • Partner with functional teams to determine which new features to enable and when.
    • Identify current, upcoming and future release features and platform capabilities to include in the HRIS roadmap.
    • Track delivery of HRIS roadmap items and assess impacts to current operations and planned initiatives.
  • Oversee ongoing support of Workday integrations with other systems (e.g. Shareworks, ADP, Okta, benefits providers, etc.).
  • Provide technical sustainment support across all implemented functional areas – such as benefits, time tracking, absence, legislative reporting requirements.
  • Administer and design Workday security to align with current and future operating models.
  • Support the Global Business Relationship Manager (BRM) in developing and managing the Workday for global and regional initiatives.

Application Support

  • Provide application support through root-cause analysis, proactive stakeholder engagement, and corrective action planning.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for a global user base across multiple time zones.
  • Conduct functional and technical analysis of changes, document findings, and support request prioritization.
  • Define data mapping requirements for system integrations.
  • Develop and maintain operational and functional documentation, including process documentation, test scripts, user guides, and training materials.
  • Mentor and support technical and functional team members.

Business Analysis and Project Management

  • Lead assigned projects using the IT project management methodology, including defining scope, deliverables, key activities, and stakeholder communications.
  • Serve as the IT technical and/or functional lead on projects, providing analysis and recommendations on business systems to support project decisions.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Communications, and other departments to understand business needs, build alignment, and support delivery of approved projects, including business case development, solution configuration, test planning and execution, and the design of integrations, reports, and analytics.
  • Assess current and future business requirements to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the achievement of intended business outcomes.
  • Provide analytics, decision-support insights, and business systems recommendations to enable informed decision-making.

Develop and Manage Stakeholder Relationships

  • Participate in regular business unit meetings to understand operating models, processes, and priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design or improve business processes and translate requirements into specifications, implementation plans, and operational handover activities.
  • Maintain vendor relationships to evaluate new products and assess impacts on the application portfolio, architecture, and support model.
  • Advise business owners on policies and procedures governing the use of business applications.
  • Work closely with vendors and implementation partners to support project delivery.

Position Qualifications

Education and/or Professional Designation

  • University degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Human Resources Management, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant IT work experience.

Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst, with global project experience with enterprise systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of Workday configuration experience in one or more of the following workstreams: HCM, PATT (Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking), Talent & Performance, Learning, Advanced & Core Compensation, Integrations, and Reporting.
  • Experience with HR processes and best practices, and the ability to align technology solutions with business goals and user needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical and functional issues and improve the digital employee experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and tailor communication to the audience.
