What position will you have?

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across four European countries. Working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders, HR systems, and third-party providers, the role covers the full payroll cycle, including reporting, tax and legislative compliance, audit support, assignee payroll, and benefits administration, while contributing to broader cross-functional business needs.

Position Responsibilities

What will you actually do?

Your key responsibilities will include:
Payroll

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing across all EU jurisdictions and sites(Belgium, the Netherlands, UK, and Norway), ensuring data accuracy at everystage — from collection and maintenance to post-payroll completion.
  • Act as first point of contact for employee payroll queries.
  • Maintain in-depth and up to date knowledge of company payroll, benefits andemployment-related policies, as well as payroll tax, social security andcompensation reporting requirements.
  • Track and perform special calculations (ex. Holiday pay, premiums, wellnesssubsidy, anniversary, entry pro-rations, exit calculations ,etc.).
  • Oversee payroll table implementation for the expatriate population.
  • Work closely with HR Team to maintain accurate employee data in all recordkeeping systems (Payroll and HRIS).
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to manage taxation,withholdings and remittances for incoming and outgoing Methanex Assignees.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage end-to-end administration of company benefits, including car fleet and insurances.
  • Own the end-to-end reporting and calculation of employee benefits — from tracking payroll reporting to reviewing key components such as STI, merit, Be-Flex, and wellness.
  • Support the HR team with data validation and submission for merit process, STI and LTI.

Payroll Reporting & Audit Compliance

  • Compile the required reporting data needed on total rewards to support HR and Finance operations and act as liaison between the two departments when questions arise.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for audit-related queries, managing and providing accurate employee data in support of internal/external audits, and compliance reporting.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of employee and payroll records in line with company policy, legal requirements and administrative processes.
  • Initiate and implement process improvements to ensure efficiency.
  • Take responsibility for the accuracy and testing of Workday compensation & benefits data across EU sites, ensuring data integrity and system reliability throughout.

Position Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

Your experience and hard skills

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline from an accredited college preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience/combined education.
  • Minimum of seven years experience in comprehensive payroll processing.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Dutch
  • Experience in international payrolls (Dutch payroll is an asset).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meeting regular and frequent deadlines.
  • Benefits coordination experience preferred.
  • Fundamental Human Resource functional knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel andPowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and experience with Workday preferred.
