Position Summary
The Electrical & Instrument Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing and supervising all maintenance and overhaul activities for plant electrical and instrumentation equipment during normal operations and during turnarounds/shutdowns. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant assets by applying approved maintenance strategies, complying with Responsible Care requirements, and meeting maintenance targets and KPIs.
Position Responsibilities
Maintenance Execution & Reliability
- Perform and supervise preventive, corrective, predictive, inspection, and performance-monitoring maintenance activities for electrical and instrumentation assets.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to restore and improve asset reliability.
- Analyze maintenance and reliability data to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvement actions.
- Ensure maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, OEM recommendations, and industry standards.
Planning, Systems & Asset Management
- Develop, review, and implement maintenance strategies, programs, procedures, and action plans aligned with best practices and reliability objectives.
- Support effective resource planning and scheduling, including turnaround and shutdown activities, to meet operational requirements and maintenance KPIs.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and work quality through CMMS (MAXIMO).
- Support spare parts strategies, inventory optimization, technical evaluations, and procurement activities.
Contractor Supervision & Team Collaboration
- Supervise contractors and outsourced service providers to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality execution of maintenance activities.
- Coach, train, and support the development of technicians, contractors, and junior engineers to meet performance and competency expectations.
- Work closely with Operations, Technical, Reliability, Engineering, and Global teams to support overall plant reliability and performance.
Safety, Compliance & Responsible Care
- Ensure full compliance with site safety rules, PPE requirements, permit-to-work systems, and Responsible Care initiatives.
- Actively promote a strong safety culture and intervene to stop any unsafe acts or conditions.
- Ensure maintenance activities support safe plant operation and continuous improvement in asset performance.
Position Qualifications
Education
-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, Communication, or Control).
Experience
-4–8 years of experience in a similar electrical and instrumentation maintenance role within oil & gas, petrochemical, or related process industries.
-Proven hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability practices.
-Experience supporting plant shutdowns and turnarounds is required.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
-Strong knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation maintenance and reliability concepts.
-Hands-on experience with:
-Industrial field measuring devices
-PLC systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, GE)
-Final control elements (control valves, ON/OFF valves)
-Process analyzers (GC, pH, conductivity, mass spectrometry, moisture, etc.)
-Fire & Gas systems
-Working knowledge of CMMS systems (MAXIMO preferred).
-Project management experience is a plus.
-Certifications such as PMP, CMRP, or PLC/automation training is preferred.
-Experience with control valve signature analysis is a plus.
