Advocate staff report Nov 30, 2016 - 2:30 pm
Employees from Methanex in Geismar volunteered their time with Caring Parents of Geismar sponsors Doris Green and Bessie Jackson on Nov. 11.
David Lee and Trent Woodard assembled bookshelves and attached bulletin boards and dry-erase boards to walls. Mostafa Elsherif, Benya Jackson, Jack Dirks and Penny LeBlanc installed 10 computers and a printer, assembled desks and chairs, and removed an old copying machine and computer debris.
Methanex also donated playground equipment for summer campers. The Caring Parents summer camp reinforces Common Core math and English language arts skills through a reading challenge in which children can earn prizes for the most books read, as well as other activities.
