Methanex and Staff in Trinidad donate USD 22,000 toward Covid-19 Relief Initiatives

In Trinidad and Tobago and around the world, COVID-19 has disrupted many lives. It is therefore crucial that individuals, communities and organizations support each other and the efforts of governments across the world as the authorities continue the fight against the virus.

For this reason, our team in Trinidad joined forces to demonstrate the Power of Agility by carrying out staff fundraising matched by the company, which led to an estimated US$22,000 worth of support to local Covid-19 relief efforts. Funds raised were used to support the following ongoing relief projects:

  • Partnering with the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago to provide daily hot meals to an estimated one hundred and fifty (150) COVID-19 Frontline Health Care Workers during the period March to May.
  • Provision of equipment and supplies to the South West Regional Health Authority to complete the outfitting of its Covid-19 Step-down Facility in Debe, Trinidad;
  • Financial support to the Living Water Community to offset the cost of COVID-19 supplies needed for five (5) homes under its Social Ministry including two (2) Cancer Hospices, two (2) Children’s Homes and one (1) Senior Citizen Home;
  • Donation of food hampers to the Caldrac Club to provide relief to adversely affected families close to our Trinidad plant.

Rosemary Scott, Assistant Community Director, The Living Water Community extended appreciation for the assistance rendered during this time. She remarked, “On behalf of our social ministries, we extend sincere thanks to Methanex and its employees for their tremendous generosity.”
