Senior Analyst, Corporate Development

Position Summary

The Corporate Development Team is tasked with growing the company. The Senior Analyst, Corporate Development provides senior management with analytical support for investment decisions being considered either corporately or regionally. Further, the position reviews a corporate economic valuation model to measure corporate value and the impacts of the various global strategic initiatives. The analyst supports various commercial investigations and negotiations, and may actively participate in such negotiations and contract development.

Position Responsibilities

Develop and Enhance the Corporate Global Economic Model (35%)

  • Review, update, and manage the corporate model and output which is a vital tool relied on by the CEO and Senior Management for assessing strategic investment opportunities and validating strategic options for the Company.
  • The analysis provides the economic justification for recommendations to the Board of Directors for investment decisions as they arise.
  • Ensure the output from the Corporate model supports the long-term tax and cash repatriation actions of Finance group.
  • Review corporate valuation model and all outputs
  • Build strong linkage with Marketing and Supply Chain to ensure consistency, logic, and appropriateness of key market/ logistical assumptions.
  • Build strong liaison with regional or project teams responsible for assumptions and for validating changes of assumptions.
  • Interpreting and scrutinising the model results and validating all changes to ensure accuracy before communicating results.

Financial Analytical Support & Analysis (35%)

  • Measure the value opportunity for discrete investment opportunities via independent economic valuation model.
  • Identifies, documents and examines all key assumptions (i.e. revenue, costs, escalation, growth, manpower, logistics, and distribution market share).
  • Provides the economic justification for recommendations to acquire new operations/business and identify or quantify the associated risks.
  • Research of all underlying assumptions (i.e. financial, operational, market, logistics).
  • Communicate with the appropriate internal experts on specific assumptions and scrutiny of corresponding results.
  • Design, review and completion of detailed economic analysis.
  • Review, debate, rework of analysis.
  • Presentation of results to the project sponsor and other members of the Corporate Development team

Commercial Negotiation Support (30%)

  • Contributes to the development of commercial negotiation strategy through detailed analytical and financial valuation support. Actively supports and participates in commercial negotiations as appropriate.
  • Contributes to the development of commercial contracts and term sheets.
  • Creates a methodology for establishing a ceiling on investment purchase price.
  • Support due diligence initiatives
  • Identify and understand key variables associated with item being negotiated.
  • Examine costs and corresponding values related to the various potential outcomes.
  • Prove out contracted terms for alignment with expectations
  • Identify range of values relative to negotiation position.
  • Present/debate implications with negotiation team.

Position Qualifications

  • Related University Degree – Finance and/or Engineering desirable
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) or Master of Business (MBA) designation preferred
  • At least 5-7 years of strong analytical experience in similar industries with global operations to understand what the economic drivers are and how they are influenced
  • Expert financial modelling skills
  • Previous commercial experience with developing external relationships
  • Contract management experience
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and strong knowledge base of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to understand assumptions when interpreting results
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to confidently interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication skills to:
    • motivate others to provide accurate, complete information as you need;
    • deliver key messages of economic results to a variety of customers/audiences
