Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Technology Services, the Manager, Cybersecurity, will lead our prevention, detection, and response efforts, and manage cybersecurity risks in corporate and manufacturing environments. As part of our Global IT team, this newly created, critical role develops strategic plans, policies, and standards, ensuring employee education and accountability.
The Manager, Cybersecurity, collaborates with business units, IT teams, and vendors/suppliers, guiding investment and operational decisions to protect assets and operations. The Manager, Cybersecurity, will be responsible for ensuring the Executive Leadership Team and the Board are informed of risks and plans through governance and reporting.
This role will also oversee cybersecurity operations, including threat monitoring, network activity, and remedial actions. In addition, this role serves as the Privacy and Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) Officer, ensuring compliance with Methanex’s privacy and AI policies and regional laws.
Position Responsibilities
Global Cybersecurity Program (75%)
- Lead the development and oversight of Methanex’s cybersecurity strategy, policies, and standards.
- Manage the Cybersecurity Team, define responsibilities, oversee activities, and identify training opportunities.
- Drive global governance activities for policy compliance and educate business unit leaders.
- Plan and manage the annual budget and work plan, including capital funding requests.
- Develop and deliver Executive Leadership and Board-level reporting on cybersecurity initiatives and risks.
- Oversee the evaluation and selection of security products and services.
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity technology, including vendor selection and resource management.
- Perform risk assessments of new platforms and service providers.
- Lead cybersecurity control assessments at regional sites and offices, monitor implementation, and flag issues.
- Oversee threat and vulnerability assessments, flag weaknesses, and monitor remediation progress.
Privacy, Artificial Intelligence & Governance (25%)
- Ensure company policy aligns with privacy and AI legislation and implement necessary controls.
- Define and oversee key privacy and AI initiatives and provide privacy awareness for all employees.
Position Qualifications
Education and/or Professional Designation
- Completed degree in IT or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or an equivalent security certification.
Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Minimum of 10 years of post-designation industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cybersecurity disciplines, including governance and operations, and developing security architecture.
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership position with global teams in a multi-disciplined/multi-functional team environment.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience with a wide range of networking and security technologies including modern firewalls, detection and prevention systems, end point security, and identity and access management systems.
- Demonstrated ability developing cybersecurity strategy and tactics based on a widely recognized framework such as NIST or ISO.
- Knowledge of manufacturing plant control systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliances and frameworks such as ISO, SOX, and GDPR.
- Knowledge in countermeasures of hacking and forensic investigation.
