Maintenance Services Coordinator

Position Summary

Coordinates the activities of contract trade labor and supports Methanex technicians in execution of maintenance work. Manages all aspects of the contracts associated with each service provider. Plans and coordinates the building, grounds and vehicle needs for the facility.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the activities of contract labor, including scaffold builders, painters, insulators, crane operators, riggers and other related trades in the execution of maintenance work.
  • Provides basic supervision of small services work groups and specific activities as required.
  • In coordination with Procurement, coordinates and ensures compliance with the applicable executed contracts.
  • Actively applies Hazard IDs to all activities and participates in initiatives that positively promote Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Ensures PM (Preventative Maintenance) compliance with regards to the inspection and testing of all lifting and rigging equipment.
  • Organizes the repair or destruction of any defective equipment as required, ensuring repaired equipment is not used until it has passed the required inspection and testing.
  • Utilizes specialized vehicles used in maintenance activities including, but not limited to, cranes, elevated working platforms, forklifts and trucks.
  • Performs equipment inspection tasks as appropriate, which may include but not be limited to, equipment lubrication checks, use of hand tools, power tools, operation of workshop equipment and other routine maintenance activities.
  • Provides assistance to Methanex technicians during the execution of maintenance activities.
  • Assists with supervising services work groups during turnarounds and shutdowns.
  • Utilizes the CMMS (Maximo) for the coordination of relevant work orders, including organization and progress tracking.
  • Coordinates the work order backlog of miscellaneous work for the plant and buildings at the Geismar manufacturing site, which ensures the functionality of all building subsystems through PM’s and corrective work orders.
  • Actively tracks the status of scaffolding throughout the site, with focus on removal in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.
  • Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
  • Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.
  • Contribute to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex USA as an effective member of the Maintenance Department.

Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade qualification or a combination of education and equivalent experience desired.
  • Experience with supervising small groups of contractors and specific tasks as required.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Experience in the Petrochemical or related industry.
  • Experience with cranes, lifting/rigging equipment and techniques.
  • Experience with scaffolding and painting.
  • Experience with workshop equipment and tools.
  • Holds relevant licenses for the inspection and/or operation of trucks, cranes, forklifts, elevated working platforms, etc.
  • Ability to problem solve, diagnose and identify solutions.
  • Good decision-making skills.

  • Good at building and maintaining relationships.
