Position Summary
The IT intern is responsible for the overall support to Methanex Geismar in order to apply technical skills to ensure all data center, network hardware and associated software operate in an efficient and secure manner to meet the requirements of the business.
Working under the guidance of the Senior Projects & Service Analyst, the IT intern will support the IT Department.
Position Responsibilities
- Support complex professional work with computer hardware, software and network systems.
- Support network servers including virtual environments, operating systems and applications software.
- Conduct problem solving and ensure the system’s efficiency and integrity.
- Assists with the information and data integrity of the business unit.
- Supports accuracy of accounts and permissions at all times.
- Assists in the management of the Methanex Geismar Data Center and facilities.
- Assists in the configuration, deployment and managing of network equipment, firewalls, etc.
- Assists with configuration of the DCS/IT/OT systems related to the turnover of G3 plant.
- Participates as a team member in IT projects.
- Researches a variety of topics for the purpose of supporting recommendations.
- Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.
- Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
- Networks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
- Contribute to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex Geismar as an effective member of the IT Department.
Position Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology or Management Information Systems in accredited college.
- Completed Sophomore (second) year of degree program at start of internship.
- Completed Information System Technology related courses.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, Innovative and Flexible.
