Position Summary

The Business Systems Analyst proactively partners with stakeholders to understand their business objectives, operating model and processes. Applying this business knowledge, the Business Systems Analyst identifies areas where efficiency and productivity could be improved by redesigning business processes and technology solutions.
The Business Systems Analyst acts as a consultant to stakeholders, IT Teams, external service providers and vendors to ensure effective definition of and delivery of business solutions that are adopted by users. Essential responsibilities include managing relationships, communications, business process development and analysis, data analysis, requirements definition, solution configuration, documentation and training.

Position Responsibilities

• Develops and manages stakeholder relationships.
• Participates in regular business unit meetings to understand operational models, processes and business priorities.
• Evaluates existing and future business requirements, industry trends and best practices in relevant technology domains such as Plant Asset Management Systems, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Document Control systems, Plant Information Systems, etc. to proactively identify opportunities to assist in the continuous improvement of the assigned processes and solutions.
• Works with cross-functional teams to design or re-engineer business processes and take ownership of their translation into design specifications, implementation and transition to operations.
• Contributes to and plays a key role in projects. This will include partnering with the IT organization to solve business needs and gain alignment on the delivery of the agreed upon projects. Responsibilities may also include business case development, configuration and testing of solutions, and design of system integrations and reports.
• Establishes measures to ensure the achievement of anticipated business outcomes and facilitates the use of analytics to enhance decision making.
• Develops and delivers user documentation and training.
• Global coordination of regional assets (system elements, processes and reports) to facilitate knowledge-sharing and lessons learned.
• Provides input to the development of business capability driven roadmaps for the assigned business systems, relevant Methanex architecture and software development standards, procedures and initiatives.
• Maintains strong connections with vendors to research new products and assess the impact on application stack/architecture/support.
• Advises business owners on policies and procedures governing the use of business applications.
• Maintains system documentation and ensures changes to solutions follow the Methanex Management of Change process.
• Performs sound economic and functional analysis and assists with the implementation of major projects.
• Provides technical leadership to IT projects within their specialist area.
• Ensures effective handover of technology projects to the IT or business teams, including identification of training requirements and comprehensive documentation.
• Ensures compliance with the Global Methanex IT framework.
• Assists in all legally required compliance issues.
• Recommends enhancements consistent with the company’s Global IT Strategy & Strategic Plan, policies and business objectives.
• Develops and maintains appropriate contacts and resources to achieve goals.
• Provides input for regional and global IT strategies, roadmaps and budgets.
• Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.
• Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
• Networks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
• Contributes to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex USA as an effective member of the Information Technology team.
• Manages the development of own career by participating in professional and educational development.
• Accomplishes IT Business Systems results by preparing annual goals.
• Undertakes additional tasks as may be required by the IT Manager to meet the operational requirements of the IT department.
• Undertakes after-hours support for business-critical applications. This will be either as telephone support for emergencies or agreed/planned after-hours work.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related discipline preferred, OR equivalent related work experience/combined education.
• At least 3 years of previous experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems, Analyst, Applications Analyst, or other similar role.
• Familiar with the following disciplines: Project Management, Business Analysis, Governance, Change Management, Incident Management, Disaster Recovery and Testing.
• Proven track record of designing or re-engineering business processes and implementing IT solutions using internal and external resources.
• Manufacturing site experience preferred.
• Experience with plant data historian applications; OSI/AVEVA preferred.
• Experience with Document Control applications; Hexagon preferred.
• Experience with CMMS applications; IBM Maximo preferred.
• Experience facilitating meetings and workshops.
• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft desktop tools including PowerBI.
• Knowledge of developing functional specifications for use by systems developers.
• Excellent communication skills to interface with internal and external, technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working with Global teams in multi-disciplined/ multi-functional team environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, administrative and organizational skills.
• Strong team player with the ability to take the initiative and be proactive when resolving customer issues.
• Strong oral, written communication and presentation skills.
