Methanex has a global network of production
hubs and terminals in North and South America, New Zealand,
Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
With a global plant reliability rate of over 95%, our methanol facilities
are among the most efficient and reliable in the world. All
of Methanex's production and distribution facilities are ISO
9001:2000 certified which is a globally recognized standard
of quality in operations management.
Methanex's
Production Facilities:
- Methanex's Chilean plants have a production capacity of
3.8 million tonnes of methanol per year and supply customers
in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Production in Chile is currently limited due to insufficient gas supply.
- Methanex's plants in Trinidad have a production capacity
of 2.1 million tonnes of methanol per year making the country
a major methanol production centre for Methanex.
- Methanex's flexible New Zealand plants have a production
capability between 530,000 and a 2.3 million tonnes. Our New Zealand plant primarily supplies customers in Japan, South Korean and China.
- Methanex's new 1.3 million
tonne methanol plant in Damietta, Egypt will primarily supply European methanol markets. Methanex has a
60% interest in the joint venture project.
- Methanex is restarting our 470,000 tonne per year methanol plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada with start-up expected in mid 2011. The plant had been idle since 2001.
