Our product - methanol - can be found in everything from windshield washer fluid to recyclable plastic bottles, plywood floors to the paint on your walls, silicone sealants to synthetic fibres. The fastest growing markets for methanol are in the energy sector which today represents approximately one-third of global methanol demand. There has been strong demand growth for methanol for direct blending into transportation fuels and for the production of dimethyl ether (DME) and biodiesel. Methanol is also used to produce methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), a gasoline component.

Production facilities

• Methanex’s plant in Alberta, Canada has a production capacity of 470,000 tonnes of methanol per year and supplies customers in North America.
• Methanex's Chilean plants have a production capability of up to 3.8 million tonnes of methanol per year and the site’s location allows for the ability to supply customers in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
• Methanex has a 60% interest in, and markets 100% of the production from, the 1.3 million tonne per year EMethanex methanol plant located on the Mediterranean Sea in Damietta, Egypt.  This facility supplies primarily local and European methanol markets.
• Methanex's New Zealand plants have a production capability of up to 1.7 million tonnes of methanol per year and supply primarily customers in Japan, South Korea and China.
• Methanex's plants in Trinidad have a production capacity of 2.1 million tonnes of methanol per year making the country a major methanol production centre for Methanex.

Storage capabilities

Methanex's extensive global supply chain and distribution network of terminals and storage facilities throughout Asia, North America, Latin America and Europe has a total storage capacity of approximately 1.4 million tonnes.

Shipping capabilities

Stock exchange listings

Methanex common shares have been listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) in Canada since March 1992 and trade under the symbol "MX." In the United States, Methanex has been listed on the NASDAQ Global Market since May 1992 and trades under the symbol "MEOH." In May 2007, Methanex listed shares on the foreign securities market of the Santiago Stock Exchange in Chile under the symbol "Methanex."
