Methanex
has more than $1 billion invested in its Chilean methanol
production facilities, making it one of the largest corporate
investors in the country. Its plant site is located in the
south of Chile with sales and marketing offices in Santiago.
Methanex's extensive
methanol production facilities are located at Cabo Negro,
near the city of Punta Arenas in the heart of Chile's petroleum
and gas producing region. The facilities give Methanex its
largest low-cost production hub. Its four methanol plants
have a combined annual capacity of 3.8 million tonnes, and
produce approximately 10% of the world market. With a workforce
(direct and indirect) of approximately 450 people, the strategically
situated plant site enables Methanex to ship methanol by tanker
to all its major markets in Asia, South and North America,
Europe and South Africa.
As of May 3, 2007 Methanex shares are offered for trading
on the Foreign Securities Market of the Santiago Stock Exchange
of Chile. The shares trade in United States dollars under
