Methanex has more than $1 billion invested in its Chilean methanol production facilities, making it one of the largest corporate investors in the country. Its plant site is located in the south of Chile with sales and marketing offices in Santiago.

Methanex's extensive methanol production facilities are located at Cabo Negro, near the city of Punta Arenas in the heart of Chile's petroleum and gas producing region. The facilities give Methanex its largest production hub. With individual plant capabilities that differ according to design, its four methanol plants have a combined annual capacity of 3.8 million tonnes. The strategically situated plant site enables Methanex to ship methanol by tanker to all its major markets in Asia, South and North America, Europe and South Africa.

As of May 3, 2007 Methanex shares are offered for trading on the Foreign Securities Market of the Santiago Stock Exchange of Chile.
