About the Responsible Care Ethic
The following six Codes of Practice from the Canadian Chemical Producers' Association are examples of how companies are guided in the management of chemical products throughout six phases of their life cycle.

2. Research and Development Code of Practice
The Research and Development Code covers the development of new chemicals and chemical products, processes, equipment and uses. The code applies from the moment research is approved and extends to a product's introduction into the market. Companies must ensure that R&D operations are handled in a way that protects people and the environment from hazards. Once the product is introduced into the marketplace, customers must be provided with information about hazards and associated risk to help ensure that they handle, store, use, and dispose of the product properly.
