Methanex incorporates
Responsible Care®
into all of its business activities. The following examples
illustrate some of the many ways Methanex fulfills its commitment
to Responsible Care:
- We consider health, safety, emergency preparedness, environment,
security and Corporate Social Responsibility activities
that fall under the Responsible Care umbrella.
- We have established and maintain a corporate structure
where Responsible Care is a primary focus, from the Board
of Directors and line management all the way to the people
working in our offices, terminals and manufacturing facilities.
- We incorporate Responsible Care thinking into all phases
of our business and make Responsible Care a performance
measure for all staff.
- We continuously improve the way we do our business through
active participation in our industrial associations, sharing
knowledge and best practices between sites, with other companies
and with customers.
- We encourage others to apply the Responsible Care ethic
by proactively selecting the best possible contractors,
suppliers, carriers and distributors, and working with them
throughout our business association.
- We work with communities and the public wherever we have,
or plan to have, operations. Good communication is critical
to the success of new projects and long-term operation of
facilities.
- We develop effective two-way dialogue so that issues are
known and that concerns are heard and are resolved in a
timely manner to the mutual benefit of Methanex and the
community. To this end, Methanex has formed Community Advisory
Panels at all manufacturing sites.
- We have independent third party assessments carried out
by the Canadian Chemical Producers' Association every three
years to confirm our ongoing commitment to and compliance
with the Responsible Care Ethic. For more information please
read our most recent Re-verification report: 2004
Responsible Care Reverification Report (pdf).
