The
health and safety of our employees, contractors and visitors
is a primary objective at Methanex. We believe that all injuries
are preventable, with that in mind, we continually drive to improve our health
and safety management systems at all company locations. If
an incident does occur, a corporate-wide incident reporting
system enables employees to share information about what happened
and why, and take corrective measures to prevent a recurrence.
Methanex voluntarily
shares recordable injury data with the Chemistry Industry
Association of Canada (CIAC) and participates in SHARE (Safety
and Health Analysis, Recognition and Exchange), which allows
member companies to compare their injury and illness performance
with chemical industry averages and compare health and safety best practices. Companies classify on-the-job
injury and illness experience using U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
Guidelines, a well-accepted North American standard.
Methanex provides technical information and safety data sheets to address important aspects of methanol handling and usage.
