The
health and safety of our employees is a primary objective
at Methanex. We believe that all injuries are preventable
so we continually drive to improve our health and safety management
systems at all Company locations. If an incident does occur,
a corporate-wide incident reporting system enables employees
to share information about what happened and why, and take
corrective measures to prevent a recurrence.
Methanex voluntarily
shares recordable injury data with the Canadian Chemical Producers
Association (CCPA) and participates in SHARE (Safety and Health
Analysis, Recognition and Exchange), which allows member companies
to compare their injury and illness performance with chemical
industry averages. Companies classify on-the-job injury and
illness experience using U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Guidelines,
a well-accepted North American standard.
Methanex's recordable
injury frequency compared with other chemical companies and
industry contractors is shown in the accompanying chart.
