Part
of Methanex's commitment to Responsible
Care® includes preparing for those times
when an unexpected event requires an immediate and skilled
response.
In developing a Methanol Emergency
Response Plan it is necessary to understand methanol’s
characteristics, how to handle methanol correctly and the
appropriate response for an emergency situation. Please review
methanol’s Safety
Data Sheets and other technical references for more information.
Methanex maintains
site Emergency Response Plans that are intended to cover all
foreseeable events. Fire, emergency medical assistance, environmental
incidents and natural disasters all require different kinds
of responses and employee expertise.
Each of our facilities
has a specific Emergency Response Plan, designed to manage
incidents that occur locally. If an incident has the potential
to affect the overall business, the local plan will activate
the Corporate Crisis Management Plan (CCMP). The CCMP is designed
to bring together the right decision-makers at the right level
of authority to take the incident to a higher level of corporate
action.
All of these plans are tested regularly on their own
and as an integrated system, providing Methanex with an ongoing
ability to identify and implement plan improvements.
