In 2006 the European Social Investment Committee (SIC) came up with a new program called "250 SMILES." The program grants 250 Euros (about US$340) to each employee to donate to a local charity of the employee's choice. Selected charities are also eligible for additional funding from SIC when they exhibit strong social investment in the community and are aligned with SIC's criteria.

Since its launch, 250 SMILES has donated to various charitable associations such as:

  • Soleil en Hiver - a non-profit organization that helps homeless people in Brussels. Employees and their children fundraised for the organization by hosting a booth at a Christmas market.
  • The Jennifer Association - a non-profit organization aimed at making the life of hospitalized children more bearable. To fundraise, an employee sold chocolates in the office.
  • Jean-Claude Heuson Foundation - a foundation devoted to breast cancer research.

As part of its mandate, SIC also donates to projects like:

  • Open Therapeuticum Leuven - a therapeutic center that helps brain damaged youngsters.
  • Hatchiko - a center that trains dogs to assist disabled people.
